Frog's adventures in France 2010

Spend a week exploring this region that was made famous by the likes of Vincent Van Gogh and Cézanne. Experience the scent of the 'garrigue' as you hike in the Apilles mountains. Explore the Pope's Palace in Avignon, the Cours Mirabeau in Aix-en-Provence and the medieval villages perched on mountain tops. Walk along Roman roads and witness the Pont du Gard - the world's largest Roman aqueduct. Browse the treasure-filled provençal markets. Join Don Hackett, CSW of Sherlock's Wine Merchants and Cook's Warehouse, and Jennifer Pounds of Frog, the Atlanta-Paris Connection on an in-depth exploration of the wines and the region of Bordeaux. During the week, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the how the grapes are grown, how the wines are made, which varietals are grown here and why, the 1865 classification of the vineyards and how this affects the wines of today, and even better, you'll have an opportunity to taste the wines! Tastings will include a variety of chateaux on both the right and left banks, at least one of the first growth chateaux, a visit to a negociant's warehouse and an afternoon in St. Emilion, the charming medieval town famous for its wines and it's roman ruins.

Along with learning about the wines, we'll talk about the customs and culture of France in general, and specifically of this region. You will have an opportunity to taste the regional specialties and see how they pair with the local wines.
